Frequently Asked Questions

Always book directly with the operator. You will find their website, email and phone number on their listing.

Different operators run tours on different days and have different seasons. The northern hemisphere has a different summer to the south of course. Please visit the operator website for details.

Some operators require pre-booking others allow you to turn up on the day but it’s always best to pre-book to avoid disappointment

Rarely do bike tour groups get larger than 20x guests but you should check with your operator locally.

A good age for a child to go on their first tour would be around 9years old so that they can safely cycle themselves but some operators provide child seats etc., so check with the operator.

English tends to be the most widely spoken language on bike tours globally but check with the operator as some will offer tours in lots of different languages.

Some people like to bring their own bike to join a tour. Usually an operator will have no problem with this but it’s probably worth asking.

Some operators will allow this and others won’t so do check before you arrive.

You will find a map on the listing for each operator and this pin shows the meeting point. If in doubt see the operator’s website for details.

Come prepared for rain. You can always take your rain coat off. Some operators might cancel in the event of bad weather so check with them if you’re concerned.

If you have booked then it is for the operator to take you. That’s why it’s always best to pre-book.

I’ve listed a few ideas below:

  • Comfortable shoes
  • Camera
  • Sun screen
  • Cash
  • ID (passport, drivers licence or similar)
  • Hat
  • Sun glasses
  • Jumper (could get cold)
  • Raincoat (if you’re really worried it’s going to rain)
  • Energy Bar
  • Bottle of water
  • Packed lunch (if you are so inclined)
  • Shorts rather than trousers (we don’t want clothing getting caught in the bike)

Most operators have a garage or shop where you can leave a bag but they are not storage facilities. It’s best to leave your travelling bag at your hotel. You can always bring a day bag and have it on your back whilst you are on a tour.

We don’t encourage cars … we like cycling.

Most operators will have helmets for your use but not every city requires the use of helmets. No one will tell you off for bringing your own helmet.

Keep your eyes open and pay attention! Make sure your bike is up to the job before you set off. Just check the brakes work and that it’s the right size.
